circutated '' It is hereby ordered by the municiple High
Council of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints
Located on the Potawatawie Land
That here after it shall not be lawful for any
member of said church to sell or vend spirituous liquors
on said lands.. And any such person so violating this
ordinance shall on conviction before any Bishop, shall paya sum not
less than fifty cents not over five dollars, a fine for each trasnsg-
ression to be collected by the marshal and appropricated to the
support of the poor..
Provided that when a majoriy of any branch of the church
think it nesessary for liquor to by kept for Medical or other
useful purposes.. They may petition to the High Council to that
effect Recommending some suitable person to retail the same
at a price to be fixed by the council, and such person
shall make an improper use of this privilege, it shall betaken from him, and be liable to the same fine as
in the above article.. All acting Bishops to have jurisdiction
in the above prenises'' It is further ordered that the price
for liquor ((T E)good rectified whiskey) shall not exceed fifty
cents per. gal. when sold by the gallon, and shall not
exceed sixty cents per. gallon when sold in smaller qauntities
Bro. S. Richards was appointed to select one to go with him
and talk with Mr B. Greemore, and request him to
assist from selling liquor to the members of the Church
Bro Perry Durfee wanted to know if men should be
permited to go to other men's yards and cut the timber
to haul off two or three miles, robing the ones where they
cut the timber so that it would compele them to leave
there when other wise they could stay, and when they
had timber fenced in where they are hauling the other timber to and lesse fields fenced &c, said Hamon Cutler
and two young Raiments had come and cut the timber
imediately around his house and yard and was going
to haul it off to enlarge their fields at house when
they had timber fenced in and it was robing him
so he would have to leave the place..
