upon the usual recommendations, and vote taken of the Congre=
=gation present, Wm J. Bennett of big Spring on Musquato, Jno Clark
on the river, Nathaniel Taylor, Allreds branch, Nahum Benjamin,
Cheneys branch on Cagg Creek, were recd into the quorum.- Alva
Benson of Pigeon branch, Horace Olive, old agency, Abraham C.
Hodge, Mill branch, & Chas Butler, old agency, were recd for ordination
into this Priesthood, & were Ordained then under the hands of the
Presdt in company with Elder, Moses Clawson. The Elders quorum
then proceeded & transacted a little business, after which
Prest G.
A. Smith proposed that some Elders and High Priests be sent out
to visit the branches, which was carried. E. T. Benson moved
that the high Council go, which was carried. Also moved that
Joseph Young and Benjn Clapp also go, which was carried.
Also moved that Joseph Young select from the presidency of the
seventies, and send them out, which was carried. Made a com=
=mittee of two to go down to the point and set things in Order.
Made remarks on presiding in branches, and on tithing.
Bros H, Redfield and J. Clarke were then appointed to go and
preach to the Saints on Pottawatamie Lands. After many items
of principle, a vote was called to see if the people wished the law
of the high Council to be carried out as it was before the Indian
Title was extinct in regard to thieves & which was carried
in the affirmative. Able Lamb was then appointed to travel
among the branches. Presdt Joseph Young then arose to & made
some remarks,- Sung ''Come all ye sons of Zion & let praise
the Lord, &c.'' Presdt E.T. Benson then addressed the congregation,
& introduced the finishing of Bro Geo A. Smith Houses &c.
Bro Geo A. Smith introduced Lucius N. Scovil to the high priests
quorum, to be recd & also to give him the right hand of fellow=
=ship, & let him go to New Orleans and take charge of the Church
affairs in that place, which was carried in the affirmative.
After singing, the meeting was closed in the usual manner.
