made remarks relative to Indian depradations;
said he had sent a letter to Major Miller informing
him of their acts both on this side of the River &
also at the Horn, followed by G. W. Harris, then by
Geo Coulson several of the counselors spoke on the
subject,, Geo. W. Harris moved for a committee of three
to negotiate with Major Miller and the Omaha
Chief and if possible get that nation to stay on their own side of the River,, 2nd by Geo Coulson
carried,, Pres.O. Hyde nominated H. W. Miller Geo. Coulson
& William Snow said committee,, carried..
Pres. Geo A. Smith & O Hyde spoke relative to the business
of the committee followed by Geo W. Harris & W. Snow
Cols C. M. Johnson was then appointed to order
a scout against the Indians and inteligence
was ordered to be circulated to the different
Branches, to form their companies, appoint their
Captains and come to the Indian Mill on
Monday next with two days provisons and forty
rounds of catarage.. On J. M. Benson's recommend
Joshua Hall was appointed to raise a company
above Pigeon opperate in concert with the
other companies.. Remarks by several counselors,
Bro. Geo. W. Harris presented himself before the
council requesting their aid in getting him
a house to live in. A motion was made and
seconded that a subscription be drawn and
circulated,, carried..
