    Pres Hyde then said that he had the witness within him
that Carter did lie, and you may acknowledge what you will,
what you have got shall be taken from you, Well said Carter
if you are going to take them from me there is no use for me to make
any acknowledgments, Pre^s Hyde told him that the spirit of confession
was not in him
and to see if the brethren felt as he did about it he would call a
vote on it, and the vote was amanous that he had not the spirit
of confession in him, Pre^s Hyde then said that he was within a
hairs breath of having his membership and his Preasthood
taken from him, but there was still a chance for him and exorted
extend the hand of mercy towards him. Carter then plead for mercy
Pres Hyde said that he was a mercifull man. Carter then said tell
me all that I have got to confess and I will do it Pre^s Hyde told
him that he could not make a whole sale business of It, he would

to do, Well said Pre^s Hyde You acknowledges that you told me a
lie when you called God-Angels and men to witness that you never
taught such things, answer yes I did, 2^nd  you actknowledge what those
witnesses have said it true, answer Yes it is true[-] you actknowledge
that you did use these arguments to bring Cordelia Meckam
to your measures, answer yes I did. Pre^s Hyde then said it was well
for him that he had acknowledged altho it was drawen from him
by inched he then said he would call a vote on it.
Joseph Meakam said he would like to ask one question
by
permission, the Pre^s said ask, br^o Meakam said that under his

forgive br^o Carter for said he I look upon him as being guilty
of sheading incent blood, but said he if I am wrong I want to
be corrected and will stand so. Pre^s Hyde answered the question
by saying there was a clause in the book of Covenants that said
forgive all men, and the Lord says in the same clause I will forgive
whom I will, br^o Meakan said was satisfied to do so.
 Brothers Jarome Benson said there was a matter between
him and Carter and if it would not be out of place he
would like to have the matter then and there,
