Pre^s Hyde asked if there was any other testimony to establish
the fact of Carters saying that covenant breakers should be
dammed. Joseph Kelly testifyed  that on an early acquaintance
with W^m Carter & after he had obtained Cordelia Meakam
as they were going to a party W^m Carter introduced the
subject of sealing and stated that he had obtained favor in
in the eyes of the Lord & with his servants and that he had adopted
into his family a young and that he had been enved for it,
and how others had covenanted with him and had borken their
covenant, and they were curst and would be till he redeamed
them &c. pre^s Hyde then arose and said he had been holding
an to see if there was not some one t testify to the fact of Carter
teaching of that principle for said he I had the evidence with=
in me that he (Carter) had taught these principles, he then
addrest himself to Carter and said,, Yesterday when you was at
my place Your plea was, that all you wanted was a fair
trial I discoresd  then by the spirit that was in me that all
was not right with you, I then told you that I had under=
stood from severil sources that you had been teaching
such principles, you denyed it and said that you never
 had I then asked you the 2nd time and you still denyed it and
called upon God-- Angels-- and men to witness that you never had
taught any such principles and if you had you wished
that the just judgments of God might rest down upon you.
Pre^s Hyde can turned and said when demon did the truth of
 Man by the authority of the Preisthood and he told him
a lie it was not an easy thing to be forgiven, and said he
I tell you now what you have got shall be taken from you
nevertheless you may be forgiven, he then called upon Carter
to make his acknowledgment,Carter asked him what ackn
owledgment he wanted him to make, Well well said Pre^s Hyde
I want you to acknowledge that you told me a hair faced lie,
and what those witnesses have testified to is true, Carter
said that he had no recollection to answering Pre^s Hyde as
he had stated it, that Pres Hyde must be mistaken,
and that it must be in some other matter.
