Henderson was then called up and they being present
they were sent for and the  Council adjourned for twenty
minutes-- The house came to order Bro. Hewitt and
Sister Henderson came in, and Bro. Hyde said he did
not want any to hear the case, only those who were obliged
     Prest O. Hyde then presented the case, said that Bro.
Samuel Henderson wished him to marry him the other
day and he told him, that he could not until he had
an investigation before the Council. He called upon Sister
Henderson to give her reasons for leaving Bro. Henderson.-
      Sister Mary Ette Henderson said she considered that Bro,
Henderson had mistreated her, with abusive language,
and had several ties struck her, said that for three or
 four years, they had not lived agreeably; said this was
the third they had parted, she said he provided for her very
well, only that he would abuse her and thought he had a
right to whip her if she did not do right.
      Bro. S. Henderson asked he some  questions, which she
answered.  Bro Henderson then presented a pater No. 1, to
he read by the clerk. also pater No 2 . He then
asked Mary  Ette if it was true, what was written on those
papers; she said some of it was true, and some of it
was not true.- Prest O. Hyde asked the parties if they
were willing to let the test of Revelation decide  the case,
   The parties were willing to submit the case, and Bro.
Hyde gave them some instruction dictated by the
Spirit. Bro. S. Henderson then read papers No 2 for
he to hear it item by item, and asked he to say if
it was true--- To all of which she replied not----
     Bro. W Hewitt then arose and made some
remarks relative to this case..
      Bro Isaac Allred said he had been acquained

with the parties, and had ben ever since they left
Nauvoo and he never knew of Bro. S. Henderson abusing
the woman and gave a short history of their course since
they left Nauvoo to this time.
