Sunday January 5th 1851. The quorum of High Priests
met at the Music hall in Kanesville at 11 oclock a m,
the day being very pleasant the House could not contain
the number of people assembled, & the quorum did not
proceed to business until after the general branch meeting
was dismissed. The names of the members were then called,
The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved.
Elder Stoddard the President them said, he thought bad
of drunkenness, but worse of whoredoms, and the latter
is worst in the sight of God. He said he was appointed
together with Elder Hyde to attend to remissions, &c, it is
now 3 years since, and the time is now past for it, &
we will cut them off, and watch after them. There are
some who pretend to have received appointments to
teach principles, & they are carrying on these vices &
wickedness. None need apply for admission into this
quorum unless they are recommended by good and
faithful brethren. William Niswanger presented
himself for reception, stated, that he had been Or=
=dained be George Miller, in Nauvoo, it was intima=
ted to him that he had better present himself for Ordi=
=nation here. he accordingly done so, & was approved of.
John Booth of Carterville, George Hicks of Mc olneys
branch, Joseph Bardsley of Bullocks Grove, Daniel
Vincent of Block House branch, Ruben Carter of same
branch, and John Morgan of little Musquito were
then presented for ordination also, and they were
accepted, and ordained by Elders Jacob G. Bigler,
Zebedee Coltrin , Abraham Palmer, and George Coulson.
John Killion of Bethlehem branch, and Thomas Burdick
of Block House branch were received into the quorum.
Elder Stoddard then said that he was desirous to speak
on some subjects which he considered of some impor=
=tance, but time will not now permit. From out calling
and
