and experience we should be men of God, not Children,
some want to labour with Brethren and Sisters as in
former days, before they are brought upon a change before
the Church. The Book of Doctrine and Covenants is good in
its place, but the Church is now about twenty one year
of
age, and we have progressed in Knowledge and so forth.
In consequence of the Elders quorum being present and
having business to attend to this quorum adjourned
until the first Sabbath in february next.

Sunday february 2nd 1851 The quorum of High Priests
assembled in the music Hall, after the general branch
meeting if the Church was dismissed, at about one
oclock p m, The President pro tem was absent on ac=
=count of sickness, James Allred one of hiss counsellors
also absent in Missouri, George Coulson present. The
names of the Members were called. Minutes of the
last meeting read and approved. Elder Orson Hyde
was present, and said he was happy to be present,
a great responsibility rests on us, & if we dont honor
it, it is to our condemnation. If we stand to and bear
up the Priesthood it will honor us, if not, it will be
the reverse with us. I desire to live in the flesh so long
us I honor the Priesthood, but to be taken away before
I should dishonor it, and I think my brethren wish
so also. Every quorum wants a head. This quorum
wants a permanent one. It was brought up before
the high council yesterday, for nomination, and stood
over until to day. I see many good men here, capable
of holding the Station, some may be thought not qua=
=lified and so forth, but all men are capable if they
uphold the law and dont transgress it. I was going
to say I had on choice. Any man with an honest
