Bro. Meacham denied that part of Bro.
Kelly's testimony, relative to his stricking Bro.
Kelly and said I claimed 10 feet beyond the
fence, Bro. Kelly put his feet on the fence and told
me he was a going to put the fence there..
Bro. Kelly said there had been no dispute as to
the claim of ground there untill that occurance..
Councillor William Snow said from the
testimony given, there was no evidence aside
from the parties themselves.. There had been
a quarrel no doubt, and they quarreled about
10 feet of ground, they both men it censure..
Councillor James Mc Leallean tho't that  there was
nothing to examine in point of testimony my  opinion
is if Bro. Meacham had have gone to Bro Kelly
in meekness, he would have excaped this calamity
that be fill him.. Bro. Kelly did very wrong to beat
him, but we are weak mortals, and I do not
think Bro. Kelly is so much to be censured as he
has been represented to be. I think Bro. Meacham
was most in the wrong, and Bro. Kelly ought not
to be thrown on his hands..
Bro. Meacham said his sufferings were great and
he would not for are hundred dollars have received the abuse he had,                                                                       since Bro. Kelly struck me my lungs have continued
to bleed at intervals.. I did not want to take any
advantage of him.. My feelings have been passive
and acknowledge my superiors..
Bro. Kelly said he would not for dollars
and cents, even had he been justified in the
case, have had this brought be fore the community
I know a man is justified in defending
his property, but I am willing to submit the
thing into your hands.. Prest Allred said
they were cash, but they are good even
and their neighbors din't want then to
