President Allred asked bro Wood if he was
ready for trial, br Wood said that he did not know
what he was to be tried for.
Counselor Wm snow moved that brother Miller
explain the items of the charges to brother Woods,,
curvied.. Brother Miller said that he should prove
that brother Wood had taken a cow not his own, and
that he said she be longed to a certain brother.if not he did
not want her, but finding she did not belong to
ham, and that brother  Brigham wanted him to keep  
her till spring , brother Miller said that he should further,
prove that brother Brigham Knew nothing about
the cow , and that he Woods had spoken with  Contempt
with regard to this Council.. Sister Eliza Ann bornard
testified that brother Woods took a cow out of
their yard, brother Woods claimed the cow for bro
ther Hill, the cow had a bell and rope on her neck
brother Woods confedded he took the cow, and that
took the bell and rope off                                              brother Francy Williams testified the cow was red,
had a white spot in the fore head, and had a small
bell on, hung with a rope, three times round

her neck, Jacob Bigler testified that he went
to brother Woods and called for the cow telling
him he had authority from the council to take her.
Woods told him he should not give her up, and
if any man took her he would shoot him,
Bigler said he them got help and went their where
he found the boy loading guns, and Woods stated that
the cow was locked up and if they got her it would be at their
peril, also that the council were a pack of fools that
he had heard from then but twice and all was a pack
of black guards , and he then picked up the poking
stick to fight.
