1st Killing an ox not his own,, and 2nd stealing
a grind stone in Mo. Bro Lovelace came forward
and stated relative to the grind stone, in the
fall of /46, he and his two sons were at work
at Mr. Christian Kinder's in Athison Co. Mo. and
during their work he asked Mr Kinder if there
was any grindstone grit in his -----bor hood, he
replyed there was not.. He then said to Mr Kinder
that he would like to buy a small grindstone that
was out in his yard if he would sell it.. Mr K.
said it was so small he should never use it, and
he might have it in welcome.. He then took it
when he came away without saying anything
further about it.. Pres. Hyde then read two letters
from said Kinder, relative to the grindstone..
1st Aug. 5th 2nd Sept 22nd /47 the letters also charging
------ Lovelace with having stolen his iron wedge..
Bro Lovelace said as to the wedge he saw no
wedge while he was at work there.. Bro. Hyde called
for evidence on the case.. Bro Gideon Wood stated that
he and Bro. Garner called at Mr C. Kinder, and he was
not at home,, but his girl told them that Mr Lovelace
did steal the grind stone and wedge, and had never
been there since.. Moses Daily stated, that Kinder told
him week before last, he had never seen Lovelace since he
took the grind stone said the stone was 7 of 8 inches across
Pres. Hyde moved that Bro. Lovelace take the stone back to Kinder, or give it into the hands of Bro Jas Alred
to be forwarded forth with,, and further that he send money
enough to pay for what it has been used,, voted too unminously
Pres. Hyde then called for those who knew concerning
the ox.. bro Isaac Furgerson came forward, stated he had lost an ox, and Richard Williams told him, that Lovelace
had killed one about half a mile from his camp,, said
