Bro. Oliver Cowdery said he felt that the Brethren expressed
a kind feeling in requesting him to speak. He then spake
relative to his feelings, his long absence from the church
giving some of the reasons of his leaving, said it was
to him to reflect on the circumstances that led me from
the church but those who was the cause of that separation
have gone to the dust, or left the church, I feel
that I can honorably return.. I have sustained an honorable
character before the world during my absence from you
this tho' a small matter with you, it is of vast importance.
I have ever had the honor of the Kingdom in view, and men
are to be judged by the testimony given.. I feel to santion
what has been said here to day,, I am out of the church
I know the door in to the church, and I wish to become
a Member thro the door.. I wish to be a humble private member,, I did not come here to seek honor,
Moved by Bro. Geo. W. Harris that Bro. Oliver Cowdery be
permitted to come in at the door he is so well acquainted
with,, and seconded by E. M. Greene.
Many remarks were made by different ones relations
to Bro. O. Cowderys coming into the church again..
Many Questions were relative to his course and feelings
towards Bro. Joseph Smith &c..
Bro O. Cowdery made a few very satisfactory remarks, and
appealed to those that know the circumstances of his going
off for the causes there of.. After some more remarks
from different ones of the Brethren, the question was
called up and Bro. O. Cowdery was received back
again into the church on his being baptised, by
a full vote,, and many expressed their gratified
feelings on the occasion.. About 2 oclock P. M.
he was Baptised by the hand of Bro. Orson Hyde..
