They are a committee for to receive sheep for whom owners cannot
be found, and all others who wish, or who will not protect their sheep
from the wolves, and safely deliver to the owners on half of them over the
mountains. many of the soldiers cattle are strayed , and have not been found; and many their fireness fo not know, and if they did know them
could not take care of them. some have swam the river from hence and
crossed over on your side and we know not where they are. We have
heard of some herds opposite and above this some near the head waters of Musketoe creek
some this side keg bridge; at the mouth of Musketoe; and some as low down the
Missouri river as 17 miles, and other places and zon must make through work
and gather the whole, as the prairies are now burning
and they must be looked
to immediately; and $2. will pay for doing it; and it will be a good job for
those who want work and they must be responsible men; and it will be a
good job for the owners, who will be found in the spring. should you
let us know when your herd is collected, there are many on this side
of the river who would like examine for their strays, and if they took
them away will pay for the findings otherwise take them in the spring
and you as do others We expect your company will be organized by sunday
and immediately commence gathering their flocks and herds
