To the High Council at Council Point
   Brethren We wish you to follow the example
of the High Council at this place, and appoint a
company of ten herds men, whose duty it shall be
forthwith to gather all stray cattle, sheep, horses,
mules, &c. even all they can find not belonging
to the Indians and settlers, and for which owners cant be
found, and brand them indefacibly, and take them on the rush bottoms
above the Bazon, or Bozor-- give them plenty of salt, yard them nightly,
and take good care of them till Spring. and receive two dollars per head
for herding.. The herds men will receipt to your council all the cattle
they can gather and take off, and be responsible for a safe return in the
spring we avoidable causalities excepted.Acompanying this, we send Pres''.
Youngs instruction to his herdsman Mr. Lathrop, which in general will be
strictly followed by your herdsmen, some of whom we would recommended
as follows James Alred, Arza Adams, Isaac Alred, Sidney A Knowlton,
and James Lake the remainder as wisdom shall dicate. When you have
gathered al  the sheep, you will inform Alphens Cutler, Cornelius P Lott and
Charles Bird, who will visit you and give further instructions concerning them
