     The committee on the case of Mary Ann Chapman
returned and made their report-Report accepted--
   Councillor D. R. Williams presented a letter to the Council
and Councillor C. C. Pendleton read the letter. It was
not signed- but was aseertained by Bishop Palmer to be
from Mrs. O Banion- and after some remarks- On motion
the letter returned - Remarks from Bishop Palmer..
   On motion it was voted that it should be left discretion
any with the Bishop about her case.. Councillor Coulson
said he was not satisfied with that vote,, and made
said the Bishop was under a peremptary law that the
idler should not eat the bread of the Labors- his remarks
were acquiesad with Councillors C. C. Pendleton, Jacob Bigler,
H. W. Miller- some Explainations from Bro, Jacob E. Lerry, followed
by Councillor D. R. Williams who wanted to  know if Mr.
O' Banion-
could not be compelled to take care of the child that she
has by him-&c. Some remarks from Prest Geo. W. Harris-
He then called  called on Bro. L. Powell to explaine his course
in regard to talking in tongues and his exercise &c..---
Bro. Powell gave explaination and said he would answer
any questions- and questioned by several of the Council-
Councillor A. Evans spake relative to the gifts, that the gifts of
the Spirit of God are subject to those to who, they were
given-- but there were gifts given by an evil Spirit and
they could not control themselves, or govern the opperation
of the gifts &c. Remarks from Councillor Baum, H.M. Miller
Geo. Coulson, J. C. Snow- he called to know any one could testify
that any good had originated from his exercise &c. followed
by D. R. Williams-- B. B. Messenger- C. C. Pendleton- Geo. Coulson-
explained concerning the operation of the spirits &c. J. Browning
Harmon Cutler asked if Bro. Power was in the habit of dram
drinking- Bro Powell said he had all his life Bro Cutler said
