he need not explain the Brethren knew what spirit that
would lead to-- Councillor Ja[cob]. Bigler followed and
J. C. Snow spake giving some good explainations
showing where that spirit would lead him &c. and
the operation of the spirit of God---
Prest Geo. W. Harris spake delineating upon the course
of Sidney Roberts in the city of New York &c and made
comparisons &c.. Prest Harris said he should decide that
Bro. Powell should give up hid license to the Prest hy
of this Branch,, seconded by Councillor Geo. Coulson.. Remarks
from Bro. Powell- followed by Councillor D. R. Williams &c
Explaination by the Prest. Geo. W. Harris- the motion was
called up and carried by the Council & the whole house
The case of Bro. J. F. Lane Councillor D. R. Williams
explained the cause of Bro. Lane's being called here-
Bro. Lane made his plea and considerable diversity
of feelings on this subject H. W. Miller- A. Evans, H Cutler
J. Bigler, B. B. Messenger- J. C. Snow- Bro. Lane confessed plead that
where in he had done wrong he had done it ignorantly as he
believed the License would shield him &c followed
by Coucillor Geo. Coulson- he spake plainly distinguishing
between Lanes knowledge and ignorance &c.. J Browning-
C. C. Pendleton,, J.C. Snow said again he wanted Bro. Lane
to make a confession- Bro. Lane arose and said he
would now see that he had done wrong, he did not at the
time think it wrong but he now saw that it was wrong and
he would not be caught in that situation again, and
wanted the Council forgive him-- some remarks from
Council D. R. Williams- and Prest- Harris- On Motion the Council forgive bro. Lane- also the whole house-
The congregation was then dismissed- and the
case of Judge James Sloane was called up and the
minutes of the Elder Hyde's called Council was read and
some remarks from several of the Councillors--
