cases,'' the paper goes on to claim the asendancy of power, that
he should stand in the place of Joseph Smith, & that the 12 have
usurped the power they profess to have. Elder Snow observed, he
felt anxious about the mail to be sent to the Valley, as he knew
they fell very anxious to hear from us. He wished the people to
meet on thursday next at  the place of the conference, near Doctor
Lees, for the purpose of making seals for the accomodation of the
people.- William Cazire of Highland Grove was ordained to the
High Priesthood, under the hands of Geo A. Smith. The meeting
was closed dismissed in the proper manner.

November 5th 1848. The High Priests quorum met pursuant to
adjournment. Sung a Hymn. Prayer by Thomas Guymon. Sung
another Hymn. Elder Hyde presented a letter from Cincinatti of
8th Oct. 1848, which was read,it was from Samuel Hayte, stating
that on 5th Oct. 1848, Elder James Whitehead & Sidney Roberts were
travelling round together, & that Whitehead endeavoured to persuade
some Sisters to comply with hid requests &c. A Letter reply was
read, from Elder Hyde to Elder Gibson Philadelphia, to inform
Elder Woodruff (wherever he may be.) of this conduct. Elder Hyde
said he intended it should be heard by the people in Pottawatamie
County, for there were men in authority & standing in it, who would
act so if permitted, & these people can put then down by their voice.
He spoke at length on this subject, & said, Should I now pour a little cold
water upon it, after what I have said ? It was then carried
by an unanimous vote, that the letter received, & also the one to
be sent by approved of. G.A.Smith made some remarks as to
the council given to Whitehead by the first Presidency, to go on a
mission, & send hid Teams to the Valley,&c and spoke at length
against Whiteheads conduct &c and said that he would pour
hot water upon it. Elder Gibson rejoiced in the Spirit & acts
manifested here, & he & every virtuous man will support Elder Hyde in carrying out his intentions in putting sown such things
                and
