Sunday January 6th 1850. The Quorum of High Priests
assembled at the Music Hall at the usual hour. President
snow and his Colrs being present, also O. Hyde, presdt of the
quorum of twelve, who was requested to make some remarks.
which were as follows, amongst others. as there is a repre=
=sentation from almost all parts of the County, I will make
some. We have all necessary means in our own reach, & I am
glad to find that things are so prosperous in the Valley, it
is our hope in time, and should it be moved, we have a
rock upon which to fix our permanent hope, that is Christ
Jesus Our Lord, and let us lay hold of the Cable that will

pull us up thither. Suppose we cherish a desire to know
how God looks upon us, would it not be a just rule to say,
just as we look on one another, also to feel in like manner,
If we see wrong in one another we may not have an en=
=mity towards them, but a just abhorrence of their acts.
If we have hard feelings to our brethren & split in small
clans, it will not do. There is a living head, (we may say,)
but we must have a head on Earth. Law is for trans=
=gressors, not for righteous. The letter would destroy the
Criminal, but if any crevice, Mercy will creep in.

to regulate the Kingdom of God. The Constitution of the
Kingdom of God cannot by written, but the Priesthood
embraces it. The first presidency id the highest Autho=
=rity, & is in the Valley. The first presidency can't be
every where. Christ the Head id said to by every where
present, but it is by his Angles & messengers. So by the
first presidency, & if a man do a kindness unto me
in my standing here, it is unto the Presidency. Some
don't come up the light. I am, & wish to be a Servant
