to him and rebuke that Spirit.. Counsellor Stoddard made
some remarks concerning Bro. Patten's conduct & said he could
not lay hid hands on him as he was disfellowshipped by the
Branch in which he lived- The Council adjourned for two

               Kanesville July 20th A.D. 1850
      The High Council met pursuant to adjournment in the
music hall, 10 oclock A.M.-- Present all of the Counsellors but L. Stoddard
& J.M. Benson. Remarks by Prest Allred- Prayer by C. C. Pendleton- The minutes
of the preceeding Council read by J. G. Bigler- The minutes accepted- Sister
Elvira Smith ( the widow of Elder Samuel H. Smith was present and the Council
asked her what she wanted- she wanted a house to live in- On motion of
Geo. W. Harris, after some remarks from J.G. Bigler & others, the Bishop was
instructed to see that she a cabin for her accommodation-
   Prest Allred then called  asked if  the parties in the Gould & Cooley case
were present Bro. Gould was present but Bro. Cooley was not-
   The president nominated Isaac Allred to fill the place of
L. Stoddard, & Wm Meeks to fill the place of J.M. Benson.
     Counsellor J.G. Bigler spake relative to Sister Smith and the
principle of gathering all the poor into Kanesville, followed
by Geo. W. Harris concerning the poor & the Smith family &c followed
by PresJas. Allred- Bro. John W. Cooley came in, and Gould's
case and his was again called up, and on motion it was
voted that the case should by examined from the beginning
   On motion the council voted that one speak on a side-
 The parties came forward- Speakers W. W. Lane for complainant,
Geo. Coulson for defendant- The thing to come before the
Council was to know Gould's share in the mill property-

    1st Witness Daniel P. Young Testified thatBro. Goould bought
out  Bro. Ashton  a claim that Bro. Ashton had commende on
Pigeon I think it was about the first of March-  Bro Gould moved
down there about the first of April A.D. 1848- He paid three dollars for the house logs- and I think one for the privilegs of the claims-
   2nd Witness Barnet Manser- Testified he & bro. Cooley came from
