Hewitt I know better; I Know you have, and you are
smart enough to know that I must be out of the way
first- finally Mary Ette went to Hewitts- after a while she
came back; she then told me she would never have any one
except they would be sociable with me-- I asked her if she
thought she had treated me well, or if she thought Hewitt
had either! She answered, No- I declare before God I
never consented to have her go to Hewitt, but considered her
not to go--- Question, do you believe that Hewitt would
do anything criminal, after Mary Ette came home to you-
answer . I asked her, did, Hewitt kiss you, she answered yes
I asked her, did he feel titties, she answered yes-- every
night-- she answered yes,he did every night-- did
he sleep with you-- she answered if you had asked me
that yesterday I would have said no-- She acknowledged
that she did sleep with Hewitt and his wife-- Hewitt
offered her money, he did feel of her, and she slept
in his arms all night. Question, by the Prest Do you
belive in your heart that Hewitt has had to do with her-
answer, I do, the next time I asked her if Hewitt had
tried to sleep with her again, she answered yes-- he tried
every night and said that Sister Hewitt told her that
Bro Hewitt did not want her to come and see me,
for fear that she would get with child by me, and then
he would be consured, sister Hewitt also told her if she was
not satisfied to go where she was satisfied---
Councillor Geo. Coulson spoke on the case and motioned
that Bro. Hewitt & hes wife be cut off from the church.
It was seconded by Councillors Ira Oviatt & J. M. Benson
Councillor L. Stoddard Remarked, he was willing a
five of one or two hundred dollars should be added &
he was willing to back it up in the valley or else where--
Councillors Geo. Coulson, Aa. Johnson tho't cutting off from
the church was sufficent without any further penalty, &
let the Brethren in the Valley fise that. It was moved &
seconded and carried that Bro Hewitt be called in. He came in.
