After Removing to a new house and consulting
the matter over the council agreed that Job
Sidwell look to Hose a Tinker for
his property,, (End of Ed Mellen's case)
Council voted that the other case of J. P. Bearnards be
given into the hands of brother Lyman Stoddard..
3 oclock P. M. returned to council house and took
up the case of Mary T. Mc Kee and brother Chas. Merril.
After examining the record of bishop Miller and
hearing the witnesses thros and finding they coresponded
with the bishop's record, the council withdrew to
a waggon and after some consultation the council
decided to sustain the bishops deseision..
(G. E.) ''That brother Meril pay to Sister Mc Kee
the sum of eight dollars.." The council decided that he
pay the eight dollars in provisions by the 7 of Oct. next..
Returned to the hous and gave the decission X
then the council Voted
That it here after be a standing law to the saints
on this side of the river, that any person knowing of
any other person or persons having other men's
property and conventing it to their own use unlaw-
fully or squandering it, that such person notify
a bishop,(or the council) and such property be
secured for the rightful owner---
Voted also; That when any property is given
in pledge for debt,, and the time of payment
expires and the pay does not come,, such property
shall be advertised, twenty days in three public
places and if the property is not redeemed in that time
it shall then be sold in the camp to answer the
demands of the debt..
