                        Kanesville Iowa April 26th A.D. 1851
By a call from the Prest. O. Hyde, the High Councilll was
called especial council at 8 oclock A.M. at the school
room of Elder Hyde, present O. Hyde  James Allred, Ira Oviatt,
Geo. Coulson, Jacob Bigler, E. M. greene, Henry W. Miller, Geo. W. Harris,
after some consultation a notice was writen to A. W. Babbitt
and Chas. Basset deputed to serve the notice and the Council
adj.until 11 oclock to give time t serve the notices.
   11 oclock the Council reassembled and present  Jas. Allred, Ira Oviatt,
Geo. Coulson Geo. W. Harris Jonothan Browning James C. Snow
H.W. Miller John Killian and J.M. Benson Jacob Bigler

Council
   The clerk read the former minutes which were accepted
Councillor J.M. Benson made appology that the second
Council back he was in Missouri buying cattle, and the
last council he had just go homeand it was stormy and
so he did not come,, applogy accepted by the Council..
Remarks from Prest. Allred, note was received from A. W. B.
in answer to the notice which had been served on him
from the Council,, On motion it was called to a reading
before the Council.. The clerk read the letter..
    Councillor Geo. Coulson moved that the letter be put on
file and that Babbitt be fully and finally cut off from
the church,,(made some very pertiuent remarks relative
to the church..) and his name by published in the Frontier Guard-
eien,, and that the charges be named (To wit) Intemperance profanity,
and for sicking to stir up division and strife among the saints,
and for other unchristian like conduct---
    Remarks from Councillor J.M. Benson He did not like to
vote on that motion as it stood as he thot it would be
against us to publish as the Doctor moved &c. that I do for
us to cut him off  for the contempt of the Council
