President Allred made some remarks
relative to the case..
Mr Molholland said there was an impress-
ion got out that there was a wrong some where
and if Mr. Hyde had, any witness he wanted
to hear them..
Pres. Hyde called forward Mr. William powers,,
as a witness
Some altercation about witness not belonging
to the church.. The Council voted to hear the
witness..
William Powers Testified that in August last
he was in Nauvoo, and was there told by Wm
Clapp that there had a bogus press gone up and
to the Bluffs, and he wanted to go up and
get some of the first money that was
coined in it.. Said he was after wards told by
another man that he had packed a press and
sent it up to the Bluffs by Mr J M Bideman
Mr Clapp came up and I obtained a passage
with him..
Mr. Molholand asked My Powers if he ever knew
of his having any bogus money or press, or
of his having anything to do with them..
Mr Powers said he did not, but that He
was told by the man in Nauvoo that Mr.
Bideman had bro't up the press to the Bluffs,
Pres. Hyde called for Pres. Geo. A. Smith as a
witness
Pres. Geo. A. Smith said he knew nothing about
the press.. He had advised Mr Molholand
if there was anything of the kind, they had better
better be careful, had better remove it and
quit the business, said he did not deny
