after answering it in the negative, I asked him, ''if a man that
sees & knows of such things & does hot enter a complaint to the
Authorities, will possess the Spirit of the Lord? I answer in the
negative,& he spoke on the principle showing the duty of the
members. Presdt Geo. A. Smith spoke on the same subject acquies=
=cing with Bro Hyde, & made some remarks relative to going to
the mountains,& recommended the brethren to make preparations,
& put in all the crops they can this Spring, followed by Presdt Hyde
on the same subject,& advised the brethren to sell their farms if
they can for what they are worth, but not to sacrifice on them,
but, before they sacrifice much, give their farms to the church.
Presdt G.A. Smith advised all to go that could go. Presdt Hyde spoke
again. Bro A. Johnson made some remarks. Presdt Snow then
spoke, called for quorum business, & none appeared, the meeting
was then open for individuals to speak, After which it was
adjourned O& dismissed as usual.

Sunday, April 1st 1849. High priests quorum met a the School
House prust to adjournt. Sung ''Let Zion in her beauty rise.'' The Presdt
addressed the meeting, would not do any quorum business this day,
as there is a large Congn, & other may be other teachings. Spoke
upon the organization of the County, the approaching Coy election,
the approaching Church conference. Elder Hyde explained the
nature of the organization, & urged the people to continue to carry it
out, & that in a manner both creditable & beneficial to themselves
& the community at large. In the law given through Moses to Israel,
one clause was ''that a man might give a writing of divorcement
& put away his Wife.'' The Saviour said, ''the precept was given
because of the hardness of their Hearts, but from the beginning
it was not so''. What brought persecution at all times was the
opposing of heavenly mandates. The Lord privileged them to make
laws to suit, (or please,) themselves, but it was not so from the
beginning. The people of the World now stand in that situation
&
