Atchison County }On this fifteenth day of May in the year  one
                             Thousand eight hundred and forty eight personally
appeared before me the undersigned a [---] of thr peace for the
County and State above mentioned James H. Glines who being
duly sworn according to law declares that he is the indentical
James H Glines who was a private in the Company Commanded
by Capt Jefferson Hunt in the Mormon Battalion Commanded
by Capt Ph. Lt. Geo. Cooke 1 ^st Drop that he was mustered into service
at Council Bluffs by Lt Col J.Allen on the 16 ^th day of July 1846
for the term of one year and was discharged at Utah Valley in
upper California on the 16 th day of July 1847. by reason  of private
of term of service I never recieved any discharge The Battalion
to which I belonged was mustered out of service The Des[-----] of
a Commissioned officer of the Com pany to which I belonged [----]
not more be had

Justice of the peace for the county and State above mentioned
Abner Blackburn who being duly sworn according to law says that
he Knows that James H Glines the person who name appears
to the above affidaint was mustered into service and served as
the [---] State that he was honorably discharged from the service
and that the Contents of hid affidavit are just & [----] The tes=
=timony of a Commission officer of the Company to which he be=
longed Cannot now be had Abner Blackburn
