The High Council met pursuant to ad -
journment and opened by prayer from Prest Harris
The Clerk not being present on account of sickness,
it was voted on motion that C. C. Pendleton act as clerk
pro tem.
Existing Councellors all present except J. Bigler, who is up
at the mishes.
Councellor Evans said he was acting Bishop in the
Welsh Branch. Spoke of some orphan children and
in particulor of a boy, who had been taken by brother
J. Welden to bring up as his own child. Said bro.
Welden had since died, and the boy was left on the
widows hands, and he wished to know what was to
be done with him. Several Councellors spoke upon
the subject, and it was finally concurrantly recom
mended that Councellor Evans take the boy in to
his possession and deliver him over to the disposal
of Bishop Lane.
Councellor Baum asked if it was his duty as bishop
to take tithing of those who were industrious but scar
cely able to live &c.. Prest. O Hyde came in.
Councellors Browning, Snow, Evans, and Pres't
Hyde, all spoke in terms not to mistaken, of the
necessity of all saints fulfilling that law, as necessary
to sanctification, and a complete salvation.
The subject of an appeal for redress, or a reversion
of action, of a decision of the high Council some two
years ago, in the case of J. Helting; by which decision
he was cut off. was spoken upon by Pres't Hyde
and improper course he had taken.
