Atchison County } On thid eighteenth day of November in the year one thous
=and eight hunered and forty eight personally appeared before
me the undersigned a pratice of the peace for the County and State above
mentioned Jesse Earl who being duly sworn according to law declares
that he is the identical Jesse Earl who was a musician in the Company
Commanded by Capt Davis in the Momon Battalion Commanded by
Capt Ph St Geo Cooke 1st[--] that he was mustered into service at Council
Bluffs by St Col J Allen on the 16th day of July 1846 for the term of
one year and was discharged at [-------] de Los Angelas in California
I never recieved any discharge The Battalion to which I belonged
was mustered out of service That he enlisted as a private in the
Company Commanded by Capt Davis at [------] on the 20th day of
July 1847. and was discharged at Santiago on the 14th day of March
1848 Jesse Earl

Atchison County } Before me C. M. Cowles a justice of the peace for this
County personnally came P C Merrill 2d Lt & Agt Mormon
Battalion who being being duly sworn according to law on oath says
that he knows that Jesse Earl who has subscribed his name to the
above affidavit was mustered into service and serviced as there in Stated
that he was honorabley discharged and thatthe Contents of his affidavit
are just and true
